Chocolate Frogs

Two weekends ago, I went to HOGWARTS! Or Harry Potter World at Universal. Technicalities. One of the many souvenirs I brought home (a few with the intention of giving to others) were 2 boxes of Chocolate Frogs. It is what it sounds like: gigantic chunks of chocolate in the shape of frogs. I thought to myself, 'Self, there's no way you can finish even a single box of these, so you should give the other one to someone else and be known as the greatest friend in the world.'

Unfortunately for myself, I started my monthlies yesterday. Umm...is that TMI?

...TOO LATE!

I have since officially eaten 2/3 of a Chocolate Frog, and now there will be no friend lucky enough to receive an awesome box of a ridiculously large frog made of chocolate, as I am keeping the 2nd box for my own purposes.

Also included in the box is a collectible trading card of famous wizards and witches, just like in the Harry Potter books (most notably the first one), and I got Godric Gryffindor! (The two best Godrics in the world are from HP and True Blood, so this post and the previous one are really quite timely.)

A friend got Salazar Slytherin and has tried initiating a trade in our original trip email thread, but there are no takers. However; if I get a double in my second box, I'll definitely make the exchange with him.

Is it a little creepy/sad/strange that a grown woman of 26 is writing such a serious post about amphibious chocolate and trading cards and magical people?

Don't answer, because I don't really care.

Just in case YOU care, though, here's the back of my Godric Gryffindor card.

JEALOUS, YET?!

True Blood

Wow, has it been 2 whole weeks since my last post? I've had a lack of things to say lately, I guess.

Today, on the other hand, I would like to take a moment to remember some of the graphic deaths and more memorable kill-shot moments from one of the best shows on television since Buffy the Vampire Slayer: True Blood. The fact that they made a "In Memoriam" tribute video to all the deceased characters over the past 3 seasons Emmy's-style just proves how great the show is.

My favorite part was Royce the Redneck's arm flying through the air.

Even my colorquiz results say that i'm moody and depressed. What's it saying about you?

Morgan and Destiny’s Eleventeenth Date

These are the kinds of things that I love. Storybookish, slightly steampunkish, a lot of wordplay, no irony or smarminess - but a sweet sincerity from the actors. JGL, I love everything you do!

hitRECord's acclaimed SXSW follow-up to the Sundance short: Morgan M. Morgansen's Date With Destiny

!!! I wish there more things like this in the world.

Amsterdam

In 2005, I went to Amsterdam for a week. I liked it a lot. Even though I was nearly run over by a bicyclist on at least 3 separate occasions (you're more likely to get run over by a bicycle than a car, over there - true statistic!)

This picture from tumblr reminded me of it, and now I'd like to go back. That is all.

Classic

When I'm feeling kind of under the weather or in a funk, at some point, I like to watch all of the following movies:

Singin' in the Rain
Funny Face
Down With Love
High Society

They cheer me up in their own ways. Today was a Funny Face kind of day.

Fred Astaire and Audrey Hepburn's love story is a little creepy, to be honest. But Kay Thompson's voice is awesome, so it's still good. I only wish I could find a better version of "Clap Yo' Hands!"

And just a little trivia, her character is based off of Diana Vreeland, only the most interesting Vogue editor ever. Love. It.

Summer Sickness

Most people get heatstroke, sunburns, and heat exhaustion during this time of the year; me, I get the flu. You read that right. While flu season is November through March, I, of the abnormally weak immune system ilk, tend to catch this nastiness between June and September. Even with my penchant for overdramatic wails and rasping to my family and friends that death is imminent, this has become an accepted norm, and no one takes me seriously anymore. I'm the Girl Who Cried Ill - except that it's not a lie, and I actually am ill.

Day 5 of being drugged up, sleepy, and achey aside, I'm starting to reread Harry Potter again in preparation for my upcoming trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in 11 days! Typically, I get overexcited about trips and begin plotting my clothing packing list and things to do weeks in advance; but, I don't know if it's my ailment or if I'm in a funk or for the first time in my life, I actually already have everything I need, but I'm not too worried. After all, it's ORLANDO. Bringing anything nice is just asking for it to get sweat on and dirty. What do I really need to bring but an abundance of tanks, some shorts, maybe a pair of jeans, and sandals?

OH! In other news, my brother and I got iPhone 4s! He dragged me out while I was feverish to stand in a 2 hour line to get the 16g phones. Misery is an understatement to describe that experience. I wasn't even that excited about getting one in the first place, but after waiting FOR-EVER, if I didn't get one, I would have been pissed. So, yeah. Expect a few future posts to be from my new phone!

And now, before I go take another nap, I'd like to say a few words, a la Albus Dumbledore:

Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!

Who wants to FaceTime me?!

Acne Rita

Aviator jackets are in full force this FW, and unless you want to shell out 2 or 3 grand for a Burberry FW10 shearling, The Acne Rita is my favorite. The Swedes are killing it. I'm still pretty upset that I missed out on the original cream on black from last year.

But for this fall, which one do we like better? Black on black, or cream on taupe?

Few Weeks Late

But I've been busy, so this was on purpose. Seriously. Fine don't believe me. Isn't that big shearling clutch just insane? I love it.
