So Sexy

Not sure what why, but I can't get over these photos of this woman (and her man friend). So. So. Sexy.

I Like Her...

...boots, knee high socks, big grey scarf, long sweater, furry hooded jacket, dark eyebrows, and messy hair. Just in case you cared. I have no idea where I saved this from, either - lookbook? Tumblr? Sorry.

Heh.

Happy 54th Birthday, Ba.

The picture has nothing to do with my dad, but I liked it, so here it is. To my grumpy, sometimes frustratingly stoic, slightly chauvinistic, entrepreneurial-hearted, pot-of-gold-obsessed, bad with words, dessert-loving, rock and roll-enjoying, weird sense of humor, antisocial, ever experimenting, strange decision making, impulsive-buyer-extraordinaire, hard working to a fault papa: we don't always get along or know how to communicate, but I appreciate (almost) everything you do, and hope I can help make your life easier soon. Thanks for always trying to impart wisdom (usually unwanted), taking care of the family, and loving us in your own convoluted way.

Love,
Your Daughter.

I am and always will be, albeit secretly, a Daddy's Girl.

Opening Ceremong Spring/Summer 2010

Style.com has the exclusive first look of the Antonopoulous, Coppola, Schwartzman, Dunst short film featuring clothes from Opening Ceremony's Spring/Summer collection. It's really cute and quirky and vintage-reel-y, as you might expect from any one of those names attached to it. Makes me wish there wasn't a thick layer of snow (?! I know right - record breaking snowfall in Dallas yesterday!) outside, and instead I could run around in cute skirts and cat eye sunglasses drinking coke out of a bottle.

Liu Wen for Madewell

Have you been to the Madewell website lately? Liu Wen ftw. Also, I kind of like those chunky sandals.

Zoe Saldana

I like her dress. Her green shoes are kind of fun, too. I guess it helps that she's gorgeous and she's the new sci-fi blockbuster-love-interest reigning queen? Um, Neytiri and Nyoto Uhura? Hello. I am a nerd.

Jin Young Yu

"Invisible People."

I like her work.

Interview here.
Blog here, but only if you read Korean.

Please Explain...

How are these True Religion "Joey Cutoff Shorts" $172? Must. Be. A. Joke.

50's Proper

I may wear black, leather, plain t-shirts, studs, and motorcycle boots like it's my job, but I also love cutesy retro looks, too. Thanks a lot Anthropologie. Now I have more junk to add to my wishlist. That floral clutch is adorable.

Signature Scent 2010

Un Jardin Sur Le Nil Hermes. Starts off lightly citrus - grapefruit and green mango, and the dry down blends lotus with incense to give the impression of vetiver. I looooooove it.

Guys, Take Note

Cool sweater, nice jeans, unobtrusive sneakers, glasses. What's wrong with this picture?

Nothing.

Catherine Baba

If you follow even a few fashion blogs, then I'm sure you've seen these pictures. But I don't care. I want to be as fabulous as she is when I grow up.

Latest Ponderings, Etc.

In case you didn't know already, I like writing in bulleted form. Which began long before I ever thought of going to law school, so maybe that says something. So here goes, for today.

Things That Currently Take Up My Time:
  • Studying. Or at least, trying to study and trying to stay focused. Needless to say, it's pretty difficult, and I fail on a regular basis. Then, the fear of ultimate failure kicks in and it's a debilitating and depressing kind of fear, and I'm able to get some things done and catch up, a little.
  • Finding my signature scent. So far, I've narrowed it down to 3.* In the meantime, I think my nose is getting really good at recognizing top notes and base notes in scents.
  • Re-reading all my JD Salinger books as a tribute to his passing. I'd forgotten how much I love the Glass family - especially through the lens of Franny & Zooey. Franny's existential crisis is something I can relate to, and Zooey's rantings and ravings and opinions are also very on point, personally.
  • Alexander Wang S/S 2010 shoes and bags. Self-explanatory.
  • Vitamins, healthy eating, benefits of vegetarianism that include both being humane and aware of world hunger issues (although I haven't been able to convince myself that I can do without seafood...), and getting my heart rate up on a daily basis. Health fanatic? Not quite yet.
  • Struggling with my New Year's resolution to cut back on the shopping and developing the "perfect wardrobe." I just love shopping too damn much.
  • Lots of self-reflection, self-evaluation, self-indulgence has led me to the conclusion that I need to seek professional help. When I lived in NY, I could attribute my moodiness and minor to major depression bouts to the awful winter weather and lack of a support system. Being back at home, in sunny Texas, surrounded by family and friends, I don't have such excuses anymore. It's getting harder, and it's time.
Other Things That Seem Interesting, Sometimes, Maybe Not:
  • Style Savvy for DS Lite is pretty fun, if you like those kinds of games. Which I do.
  • Words with Friends for the iPhone and the iTouch is also a good waste of time.
  • I need new glasses, preferably cheap, preferably big and kind of "mannish" or "ugly" or "funny."
  • For my (sadly short) trip to NY near the end of the month, I plan on eating a lot, getting a haircut!, seeing the Tim Burton exhibit at the MoMA, and visiting as many friends as I can cram into 2 days. Also: shopping. Also: trying to keep from freezing to death.

*Hermes' Un Jardin Sur La Nil (top: grapefruit, green mango; middle: lotus; base: frankincense, sycamore), Jo Malone's Grapefruit Cologne (top: grapefruit; middle: jasmine; base: vetiver, patchouli), and Byredo's Baudelaire (top: juniper, black pepper; middle: incense, leather; base: patchouli, black amber).
